Simplicity 2215

Snake print has been pretty popular for the last couple of years. I had been admiring a snake printed maxi at J Crew (several seasons ago) when I came across this lovely print at Joann Fabrics.

Room & Board Dream Living Room Contest Entry

Room & Board Dream Living Room Contest Entry

Room&Board is hosting a contest over at Polyvore.com for people to design their dream living room. For my room I went with color. I really like to use at least one patterned item that has several colors which conveys energy but also coordinates what's used in the design. These pillows were perfect with shades of teal, green, blue, cream and taupe they gave me a great palette. There are a few wood and metal finishes that play-off each other. I really like this room. Cross your fingers that I win!

Choose your ending.....

Choose your ending.....

With fall coming (in a day or two now) it is common to see richer and deeper color palettes in the home as well as fashion. This modern chair upholstered in a luxe taupey leather is paired with a brass metal finish which is currently trending in interior design. This rug really ties all the colors together. I wanted to expand on the warmer colors  it uses, so I picked this mustard colored sofa. I also enjoyed the richness of the blue velvet sofa and decided to do an either or. Both choices will work well because they coordinate with the rug. How cool is that teak wood coffee table?

Tea for Two......

Tea for Two......

So clearly I like these tea cups since they're featured in two posts. While the color of the other version appealed to me these stand out more for their simplicity. The gold and white are a simple yet charming combination. The gold from the teapot ties in with the cups and adds color with the bird pattern. I pulled color from that pattern and went with a turquoise tray and its darkness grounds the set. Again I kept the cream and sugar bowls simple so the other items would be the focus.

As I mentioned before I am in love with all things burgundy. These tea cups are no exception. Pairing them with this beautiful and modern teapot featuring pretty pink blossoms was a nice touch. I included the metallic tray to add a reflective quality to balance out the darker cups. Can't forget the cream and sugar which get clear containers to let the other elements shine. So, one lump or two?

A hunting we will go......

A hunting we will go......

When I was browsing new websites for cool decor I came across this adorable rug. When I saw the chair on the same site I knew inspiration had hit me and a hunting themed room was in order. This is a tongue-in-cheek play on hunting lodge decor and with fall here what better timing? There is a balance of youthfulness with the plush animals and maturity from the camo print and furniture.

Playin' with Polish

Burgundy and fuchsia ombre
My love for ombre polish continues. You can probably tell that I am a big fan of this color palette as it is similar to my blog header. I'm glad burgundy/oxblood/maroon and whatever else it will be called is still trending because you will definitely be seeing more of it from me.
